As the summer season rolls along many people are noticing that insects are out in full force. Our area has seen an abundance of rain which makes many types of insects more abundant! Here are a
few tips to help keep insect bites to a minimum:

1. Wear light-colored clothing so that ticks are easier to see and remove

2. Only apply repellent to exposed skin and clothing. Do not use repellent under clothing. Do not apply repellent over cuts, wounds, sunburn or irritated skin

3. Wash repellent off daily and reapply as needed

4. Check yard and outdoor surroundings for standing water and promptly remove

5. Tuck pant legs into socks and boots, tuck shirts into pants, and wear long-sleeved shirts buttoned at the waist

6. Conduct tick checks on yourself and your children every 4 hours while in tick prone areas

7. Apply insect repellent to all exposed areas of the body and clothing that may come in contact with grass, brush or trees
